Students can only write good essays if they have good things to say! Our weekly content classes run Monday-Friday after school. They go through all the key content you need to know in order to write 10/10 essays. Each week, we go through a different theme, historical context, or idea. By the end of the 8-week block, you should have a comprehensive knowledge of whatever will be on your next SAC!
Now that you know what to talk about, how should you use it in an exam? Our Saturday morning workshops go in-depth on how to write essays examiners want to see. We go over every stage of the essay-writing process in granular detail, highlighting what examiners have mentioned in their reports over the last 10 years. We provide extensive homework and expect all our students to write 1 essay per week. We don't believe in useless homework. Every bit of study we suggest is exactly tailored to preparation for the year 12 exam.
How will I know I'm on track? The third (and most important!) part of English is getting regular feedback on your work. Unlike other subjects, you can't mark your work yourself using an answer key! Getting an expert opinion on how you're tracking for the final exam is essential. This is why all our tutors provide the kind of extensive and detailed feedback we wished we had in school! No more vague comments like "clarify" or the dreaded "?" - we explain exactly what you need to change and how. All our year 12 tutors scored 48+, and are experts in how VCAA assessors grade.

I want to get into medicine / get a high ATAR / 40+ study score
Over 65% of our students are interested in scoring 40+ or getting into medicine at the end of school. Fortunately, in 2023, 67% of our students scored 40+. 100% of students who go through our accelerator experience an increase in confidence in English, and 100% would recommend it to a friend (rating it 4.7/5 stars on average).
I don't know what or how to study for English
We'll work with you to create a personalised study plan targeted directly at what you need to improve on. Each class, we'll give you suggested study to complete, and then will mark any writing you send us with detailed comments.
It's impossible to come up with good ideas for essays
Our curriculum is designed in line with some of the state's top curriculum plans. We have clear formulaic processes for coming up with ideas for any question, which are readily teachable and form a core part of the accelerator program.
One hour isn't enough time to write an essay - I don't know how to go faster
We teach our students how to plan and write to time, while still producing excellent work. It's all about making English a system, just like any subject - and we're the experts in that.
I've always been bad at English - it's just not possible for me to improve
English is a notoriously difficult subject to teach. If you aren't sure what you're doing, it just means you haven't been guided through the material properly. We are completely sure that we will be able to reframe English so that you can understand it, and improve. 100% of our students feel an increase in confidence following our accelerator program.
I don't have time to study for English
Most students spend about 4x as much time studying subjects like maths or humanities than they spend on English. We will sit down with you personally and work out how to fit in time to achieve the goals that you want in English - even if you're school captain, spend all you lunch times in meetings, work every night after school, or have extracurriculars on the weekend.
